How to Help Those Affected by Southern California Wildfires

Our thoughts are with the heroic first responders and firefighters; our neighbors in the City of Malibu and Ventura County; and the Los Angeles County residents who have been impacted by the devastating Woolsey and Hill wildfires.

Following is a list of fundraisers and local organizations that you can donate to and support ongoing wildfire relief efforts.

BOOMTOWN BREWERY (DEC. 16, 2018)
Located in the Arts District, Boomtown Brewery is hosting a Fire Fundraiser on Sunday, Dec. 16. Tickets are $20 and 100% of proceeds benefit the International Association of Firefighters. The fundraiser is from 2-8pm and includes live entertainment, good eats and of course plenty of Boomtown beer.

THE THEATRE AT ACE HOTEL (DEC. 18, 2018)
On Tuesday, Dec. 18 The Theatre at Ace Hotel is hosting The California Wildfires Benefit Concert to support the Southern California Disaster Relief Fund created by United Way of Greater Los Angeles. Featuring sets from Father John Misty, HAIM, Jeff Bhasker, Jonathan Wilson, Lucius, Mac DeMarco, Nate Ruess, Rivers Cuomo, Rostam, Tim Heidecker, and Weyes Blood.

LAS PERLAS (DEC. 20, 2018)
DTLA's agave spirits den, Las Perlas is hosting a night-long charity event on Thursday, December 20 to support those affected by California's devastating wildfires. One dollar from all cocktails made with El Silencio Mezcal or Pueblo Viejo Tequila; and a dollar from every Tecate, Bohemia, and Dos Equis sold that night will be donated to wildfire relief. Additional donations will be accepted all night. Live music performed by Spaghetti Cumbia from 10pm-1am.

AMERICAN RED CROSS
The American Red Cross is on the ground in California, providing shelter, food and comfort in both the northern and southern parts of the state. To donate, visit RedCross.org, call 1-800-RED-CROSS, or text "CAWILDFIRES" to 90999 to make a $10 donation.

If someone is looking for loved ones they can visit the Red Cross Safe and Well website. The site allows individuals and organizations to register and post messages to indicate that they are safe, or to search for loved ones. The site is always available, open to the public, and available in Spanish. Registrations and searches can be done directly on the website.

Message from the Red Cross for those that want to volunteer: "The American Red Cross has received an outpouring of volunteer support from Los Angelenos to help in shelters and with logistics. We are currently at capacity, although volunteer staffing needs may change at any time. If your schedule is flexible over the next several weeks, we invite you to apply."

CALIFORNIA COMMUNITY FOUNDATION - WILDFIRE RELIEF FUND
The mission of the California Community Foundation is to find long-term, systemic solutions addressing the root causes of the most pressing issues facing Los Angeles County. The foundation's Wildfire Relief Fund supports intermediate and long-term recovery efforts for major California wildfires, as well as preparedness efforts.

CALIFORNIA FIRE FOUNDATION
The California Fire Foundation is a non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization, provides emotional and financial assistance to families of fallen firefighters, firefighters and the communities they protect. The foundation's SAVE (Supplying Aid to Victims of Emergency) program provides emergency short-term financial assistance to fire and natural disaster victims in California year-round, including both firefighters and civilians.

ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY FOUNDATION
Created in 1942 by Hollywood heavyweights – Samuel Goldwyn with friends Humphrey Bogart, James Cagney, and the Warner brothers, the Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF) funds more than 300 charitable organizations within the greater Los Angeles area and throughout the world. The EIF Fire Relief Fund supports firefighters and first responders who risk their lives to protect the people of California. A $275 donation funds one hydration pack for a firefighter.

FACEBOOK
Facebook has created a Crisis Response page for the Woolsey Fire, which includes donation links and updated news feed.

GOFUNDME
GoFundMe has created a landing page that lists verified campaigns for Northern and Southern California residents, animals impacted by the fires, first responders, educators and schools, and organizations helping employees. If you can't decide on just one campaign, there's also a Direct Impact Fund that supports several campaigns.

GOOGLE & CDP
To ensure funds reach those who need it the most, Google has partnered with the Center for Disaster Philanthropy (CDP), an intermediary organization that specializes in distributing your donations to nonprofits that work in the affected region. In response to recovery needs, CDP has created the California Wildfires Recovery Fund.

LAFD FOUNDATION
The Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation provides essential equipment, technology, training and youth programs to the LAFD. Charitable donations made to the foundation are used for items not in the city budget. A board of directors who are business and civic leaders lead the foundation.

SALVATION ARMY
The Salvation Army provides emergency relief and long-term recovery assistance to individuals and families affected by a disaster, providing immediate deployment of mobile canteens equipped with food, water, and emergency supplies by trained staff and volunteers. There are two donation options on the California Wildfires page: a gift that directly supports evacuees and first responders of California Wildfires; and a gift that will assist neighbors struggling with personal and natural disasters, now and throughout the year.

UNITED WAY OF GREATER LOS ANGELES
United Way of Greater Los Angeles, in partnership with United Way of Ventura County, has created the Southern California Disaster Relief Fund to help low income individuals and families affected by the Hill and Woolsey Fires. Donate online, text "2018fires" to 41444, or visit https://app.mobilecause.com/f/23ef/n?vid=4n8t to donate to Ventura County only.

VENTURA COUNTY COMMUNITY FOUNDATION
The Ventura County Community Foundation has set up the Hill Fire/Woolsey Fire Sudden and Urgent Needs Effort Fund to collect donations from the community. This Fund is designed to support the immediate needs of community nonprofit organizations serving those affected by the wildfires.

HUMANE SOCIETY OF VENTURA COUNTY
The Humane Society of Ventura County (HSVC) will continue to accept animals from families who were evacuated from the fires as long as there is a need. For more information, call the HSVC’s front desk at (805) 646-6505. For the most up-to-date information, follow the HSVC on Facebook or Instagram.

L.A. COUNTY ANIMAL CARE FOUNDATION
The Los Angeles County Animal Care Foundation supports the L.A. County Department of Animal Care & Control through fundraising for spay-and-neuter programs, pet adoptions, public education and animal welfare. The Noah’s Legacy Fund was established to support the Department’s emergency response efforts. Donations help provide food, shelter and medical care, and spay & neuter surgery for feline, canine, equine and all other pet residents who require shelter and care as a result of the wildfires.
